How to run prompt battles with AI
Prompt battles are how serious AI users figure out which prompting moves actually work. Two prompts, one task, side-by-side outputs, one winner. Do this for a week and your prompting skill compounds visibly.
Step 1 — Pick a battle format
Choose the format that matches the lesson you want to learn. Beginner vs Advanced teaches structure. Marketing battles teach hook quality. Writing battles teach voice control. Pick one — don't try to test everything in one battle.
Step 2 — Write two genuinely different prompts
The most common mistake is running near-identical prompts. The point of a battle is to surface what changes outcomes — role, constraints, examples, length limits, audience. Make Prompt B differ in one structural move, not five.
Step 3 — Run both sides and compare
Use the side-by-side workspace. Read both outputs together, not separately — your brain catches differences faster in parallel. Note which one is actually usable, not which one is impressive.
